Cabin—the open-source, privacy-focused alternative to Facebook

Most social networking platforms shifted away from user-centric design years ago. Why, you ask? Because they care more about driving revenue and pleasing billionaire stakeholders than providing their users with a safe space to connect.

For years toxic capitalism has steadily eroded the integrity of social platforms, and the impacts to society are clear.

1. Misinformation: misinformation has steadily eroded our digital world for years, largely because social platforms have failed to prioritize the identification and labeling of false information. Furthermore, accounts operated by media outlets, governmental bodies, politicians, and influencers have historically not been held to a higher standard—that ends with Cabin.
2. A.I.-generated content: we love the advancements that have been made in artificial intelligence, but also recognize the potential dangers of A.I.-generated images and videos.
3. Manipulative algorithms: platforms leverage manipulative algorithms to keep users engaged as frequently as possible, because they don't earn money when users are offline.
4. Political influence: unfortunately, some platforms have caved to political influence, and that isn't acceptable regardless of party affiliation.

Cabin is our response to the abysmal state of social platforms. It's an open-source, privacy-focused social network designed for users, not corporate stakeholders or politicians, and will serve as an ethical alternative to Facebook.
